The narrator
There is a constant voice in your head that tells you a story, it narrates you. Research has shown that this narration starts getting ingrained from age 5, and is heavily influenced by the stories you’re told by those around you, like your parents.
The narrator can help or hurt you. There is excellent research by Dr. Jim Loehr who has helped many athletes and high performers break records, get Olympic medals and achieve dreams. He points out that we can try ignore the narrator, but somewhere under there we’re listening. If you tell yourself you can’t do something, you won’t be able to.
Monitor your self talk, be gentle with yourself, and if you have remember that the way you speak to them in many ways will influence their narrator.
